Painted from a series of photos taken the afternoon of June 7, 2013 around 50-55th Streets, Virginia Beach, as Tropical Storm Andrea, the first of the Season, passed by. It was a bit bizarre; an early Tropical Storm, uncharacteristically cold water had everyone in wet suits, a calm fell between wind shifts allowing a fog to settle in, kids all over the Beach, mostly waiting for the Waves to gain Form, and a pair of pure black and pure white Poodles, seemingly unaccompanied, frolicked in the Surf, lending a Felliniesque touch to the scene.
After living almost all my life along the seacoast and mountains of the east coast, I migrated west to the New Mexico High Desert in early 2019, putting myself about as far from familiar as I could get. Everybody needs a good shakeup now and then, so I am enjoying my Art changing from the Celebration of Familiar to the Exploration of New. I hope you will as well. Thanks for looking.
